About Us

Hi there! We’re Sunnie and Liam of Fae Flower Farm located west of the Hudson River, nestled in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains in historic Greene County, New York. We live in a 180-year-old farmhouse on five acres with our rescue dog Lucky and our fifteen chickens (Jane, Lizzie, Mary, Lydia, Kitty, Aurora, Annie, Nancy, Clarence, Figaro, Babinksi, Archimedes, George Harrison, Avery Rose, Mrs. Bennet, and Funkmaster Flex).

The path that led us here has been long and winding. After having lived in the city for almost a decade, we found ourselves seeking the kind of peace only living closer to nature could provide and after leaving our careers in the media industry, decided to make our escape to beautiful Hudson Valley in November of 2022.

A little backstory: we started off as a bouquet delivery service during the height of the pandemic when our industry had screeched to a halt and Sunnie’s “what if” impulse was stronger than her common sense. This kicked off a three year journey into the world of floral design which spanned luxury event work, editorials, freelancing for other well-known floral designers, a brief stint in retail, and what we eventually became known for: large-scale installations for magazines, music videos, fashion campaigns, a book, even an Olympics commercial. Anything and everything flower-related, we tried it!

Of course, like many others during lockdown, we dove headfirst into gardening, converting our shared rooftop space into a space filled with pots and raised beds full of flowers and vegetables. We were excited to share our bounty with friends and neighbors, pleasantly surprised at how well our tiny fairy-sized garden did that first year. More importantly, we realized how much we enjoyed it as it became a respite during a challenging time when our vision for the future was morphing into something very different from the life we currently led.

Perhaps fatefully, it was also during this time that we got our first taste of locally grown flowers when we signed up for a CSA by Brooklyn-based flower farmer, Christina Clum of Spry Flower Farm. Our first bouquet arrived chock full of just-picked, garden-style blooms at the height of their season, wrapped in brown paper like something delicious from the farmer’s market. We were hooked. Our love affair with local, seasonal flowers began and we frequently sought out other flower farms up and down Hudson Valley in search of rare and unique treasures to design with and also for our own personal pleasure.

In 2021, Sunnie was awarded a scholarship by Floret Farm to attend their annual workshop - an experience and education that has proven itself invaluable time and time again. She is also currently on track to receive her Horticulture certificate in Sustainable Garden Design from the New York Botanical Garden by the end of next year. Combined, she hopes her two educations will guide her in creating the ultimate destination for local and visiting floral designers: a curated collection of organically grown annuals, perennials, vines, and woody shrubs - a naturalist’s dream - in addition to providing our local community with fresh, seasonal flowers straight from the farm.

We’re looking forward to seeing what this journey has in store and sincerely hope that you’ll join us for the ride! We’re so happy to be here.
